Purpose

The purpose of Financial Planning is to provide you with a Comprehensive Financial Plan that meets all of your financial needs. This document will assess and provide recommendations for all aspects of your financial life.
Based on your objectives, the customized financial plan will provide an analysis and recommendations for the following:
1. Cash flow and budgeting.
2. Debt management.
3. Tax optimization.
4. Investment Policy Statement.
5. Insurance, wills and estate planning.
6. Other specific needs such as inheritances, emergency funds, etc.
Comprehensive planning: Detailed financial plans are not for everyone. A number of assumptions and estimates are made based on your finances and future economic outlook. The size and complexity of the plan will depend on your life stage. Writing a plan is just the first step, it's also crucial to take action on the recommendations and refer to the plan regularly to be able to make good financial decisions.
As described in this Globe & Mail article, entitled "Do you really have a financial plan?", a comprehensive financial plan "helps provide tremendous insight and instills confidence in the decisions you make in your day-to-day life."
